What Is the Colorado HEAR Program?

HEAR (Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates) provides up-front, point-of-sale rebates for income-qualified Colorado households making qualifying electric home upgrades. For homeowners considering a heat pump, the program has historically covered a meaningful chunk of the equipment and installation cost — up to $8,000 for a cold-climate heat pump.

HEAR covers a range of measures across appliances, electrical work, and building shell improvements. Simply Mechanical’s role in this program is the installation and replacement of heat pumps. We do not offer electrical panel upgrades, wiring, or circuit work. If your heat pump project requires that kind of electrical work, you’ll need a licensed electrician for that portion, separate from your HVAC contractor.

Who Qualifies for HEAR Heat Pump Rebates?

You may qualify if:

Your household income is at or below 150% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for your county, and
The heat pump is being installed in an existing home (not new construction)

Households at or below 80% AMI may qualify for up to 100% of eligible project costs. Households between 80–150% AMI may qualify for up to 50%. Because the state verifies eligibility before work begins, this step needs to happen early — it affects both your timeline and your total savings.

Current Program Status: Region 1 (Front Range) Closed

The Colorado Energy Office and CLEAResult (the program administrator) confirmed that the HEAR Single-Family Program for Region 1 is closed as of April 28, 2026. Any project proposals submitted after April 27, 2026, for Region 1 will not be reviewed and will be denied.

Region 1 includes: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Elbert, El Paso, Gilpin, Jefferson (including Littleton), Larimer, Teller, and Weld counties — Simply Mechanical’s entire service area.
Region 2 (all other Colorado counties) is still accepting HEAR applications, but that’s outside the area Simply Mechanical serves.

As a result, Simply Mechanical is no longer including HEAR on new Front Range heat pump projects.
